Makro exists to give you clarity over your finances - not to exploit your data. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

What we collect

Account information Your name, email address, and company details when you sign up.

Financial data Transaction history, account balances, and invoice details from connected bank accounts and payment platforms. This powers your dashboard, forecasts, and insights.

Usage data How you interact with Makro - pages visited, features used, and actions taken. This helps us improve the product.

Device information Browser type, operating system, and IP address for security and troubleshooting.

How we use your data

• Deliver the service: Categorize transactions, generate forecasts, surface insights

• Improve Makro: Understand usage patterns to build better features

• Communicate with you: Product updates, billing information, support responses

• Security: Detect fraud, prevent abuse, protect your account

What we don't do

• Sell your data to third parties

• Share your financial information with advertisers

• Use your data to build profiles for external marketing

• Access your bank accounts for anything beyond read-only data retrieval

Third-party services

We work with trusted partners to deliver Makro:

• Banking data providers (Plaid, similar): Secure bank connections

• Cloud infrastructure (AWS, similar): Data storage and processing

• Analytics tools: Anonymized usage tracking

• Payment processors (Stripe, similar): Subscription billing

These partners are bound by strict data protection agreements.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If you cancel, we retain data for 90 days in case you return, then delete it. You can request immediate deletion at any time.

Your rights

You can:

• Access your data through in-app exports

• Correct inaccurate information in your settings

• Delete your account and all associated data

• Export your financial data in standard formats

EU users have additional rights under GDPR. California users have rights under CCPA. Contact us to exercise them.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). We use multi-factor authentication, regular security audits, and strict access controls. Bank credentials are never stored on our servers - they're handled entirely by our banking partners.
